Try out for other European actions?

Groen!Plus organized final meeting between polar bear and penguins.

Members of Groen!Plus (such as Ecolo+ participating in ENGS, the European Network of Green Seniors) found each other in Ghent, an historical town in Eastern Flanders (Belgium).

The scenery showed a polar bear and two penguins, sticking together in a poor rest of ice, kept together by sandbags. Place of the action: Korenmarkt (Grainmarket), downtown Ghent.

Campaigners of Groen!Plus in green and black T-shirts spread flyers, while ENGS-chairman Tony Cooreman invited people to have a picture made with one of the four “living” polar bears that also made part of the scenery. The whole action created a lot of goodwill for Groen! that will do its utmost to enter again in Belgian Federal Parliament at 10th of June elections.

Better than words, pictures can show the extend of the action and what is necessary to set up a similar one.

It is our aim to organize a second, Belgian action, together with Ecolo+, later on this year. Meantime Groen!Plus hopes that their “try out” will inspire other European green seniors to organize climate actions in their own country. In this way ENGS can show its concern for the future of the planet and our (grand)children.
